W K Sonnie Gunarathne

Managing Director

Mr. Gunarathne is a successful entrepreneur who is well known in Gampaha and also an honored senior citizen. Mr. Gunarathne has served as a staff officer in the Central Bank of Sri Lanka for gaining 38 years of immense experience in Financial Institutions. While working in the bank, Mr. Gunarathne has initiated many successful enterprises.

Batik Printing is the first enterprise Mr. Gunarathne founded which is manufacturing batik clothes for Laksala. Then the "Sampath Batik" was found to serve the export market of Batik items. Gampaha Batik Centre was initiated as the retail shop to directly sell the batik garments, which is still a known place among Gampaha people to find fancy items.

Also, diversifying his business focuses into transportation service. Mr. Gunarathne started a school transportation service covering ten central Colombo Schools. Expanding the transportation business, he also hired vehicles to Ceylon Tours, staff transportation service for HSBC from 2000 to 2007, and vehicles to Sri Lankan Airlines Catering for five years.

Mr. Gunarathne is currently enjoying his retirement and still serves his best as Justice of Peace. Also, he is presently holding many honored offices in committees and unions. He serves as an accountant of the Central Bank-Pension Association and an active Central Bank Voluntary Retirement Scheme member. Executive Committee member of Treasury of Gampaha Trade Association 2016 to 2018. Vice Secretary of Vocation and Trade Foundation- Gampaha. Vise Treasurer of Welfare Society.
